Write a short story on the page (any language). Pay the printer. Let the market decide: a critic scores it, readers post about it, and copies sell or they don't.
Sales roll in week by week on the Sales Tracker, and rent is due every month. If your bank hits $0, you're bankrupt.
Before you start
Open Settings and paste your Gemini API key (from Google AI Studio). Or choose the Mock engine to test the loop without any AI.

Get one at aistudio.google.com โ Get API key. Free tier works. Paste several keys, one per line. Google's free tier rate-limits and errors often; with more than one key the game silently rotates to the next and you never notice. Extra keys are free and cost nothing to add.
Flash is fast and cheap; Pro writes richer reviews. Google retires model names often: click "Fetch models" to see what your key can use right now.
Needs a key from platform.openai.com with billing. A free ChatGPT login does not include API access.
Used only when the engine above fails completely. Gemini's free tier rate-limits and 500s often; a backup means a failed call costs you nothing.
Menus and panels are translated where a translation exists and fall back to English otherwise. Everything the engine writes โ reviews, posts, letters, interviews โ follows this completely if you set "Review language" to Always the game language. You can always write your books in any language regardless.
On by default. The โก Quick production button on the desk lets you: you give an idea and the points you want hit, and the finished book is produced and put on sale. It costs a fee, earns reduced XP, and there is a chance someone notices the voice is not yours. Turn it off if you would rather only ever write your books yourself.
Off by default. Ideas, half-finished manuscripts and commissions already arrive on their own through fan mail, co-authors and publishers โ check the ๐ bell. Turn this on only if you want to summon one whenever you like.
